Kennedy’s triple jump record holder finishes in top three at state

Ammar Elmustafa sets the school record in the triple jump
for the first of two times during a meet in April 2025
Kennedy High School’s Ammar Elmustafa had a podium finish at the Class AAA state track and field meet held June 10-12. Elmustafa, a senior, placed third in the boys triple jump with a distance of 45 feet 10 inches.
That’s just shy of the school record that Elmustafa set twice this season. In April, Elmustafa broke the 2015 record set by Alvin Onkware (43 feet 8 inches) with a triple jump distance of 44 feet 6.5 inches. Elumstafa surpassed that by more than a foot at the section meet, setting a new school record of 45 feet 11.5 inches.
Kennedy teammates competing at state included Daphne Such finishing 12th in the girls pole vault with a height of 10 feet 6 inches, Ryan Kruger finishing 14th in the boys long jump with a distance of 19 feet 3.25 inches, and Braden Rhodes finishing 13th in prelims in the boys 400m run with a time of 50.36 seconds.
Jefferson High School’s state meet competitors included the girls relay team of Hannah Anjere, Avery Rich, Amelia Borgen, and Megan Schrooten coming in 14th place in the 4x800m relay with a time of 9:50.88, Landon Wages placing 16th in prelims in the boys 400m run with a time of 50.47 seconds, and Evan Feller finishing 28th in prelims in the boys 100m run with a time of 11.20 seconds.
